Seasonal Rhythm

Sikkim has an exceptionally varied climate because of its dramatic altitudinal range, encompassing subtropical valleys, temperate mountain regions and alpine conditions in the north. Summer and the Southwest Monsoon from May to early October bring substantial rainfall, with July generally the wettest month. Winter from December to February is cold, particularly at higher elevations, while spring and autumn bring milder conditions and clearer mountain views.

The best time to explore Sikkim is March to May and October to mid-December. Spring is ideal for enjoying flowering rhododendrons, orchids and pleasant mountain weather, while autumn brings crisp skies and some of the clearest views of the Himalayas. Winter is suitable for snow experiences in the higher reaches, while the monsoon transforms the landscape into a lush, dramatic setting but can bring road and travel disruptions.
