Seasonal Rhythm
Nagaland has a mild, humid mountain climate, with temperatures varying considerably according to altitude. Summer and the monsoon season from June to September are relatively warm and wet, while the higher areas remain noticeably cooler. Temperatures in the state can range from around 16°C-31°C during summer to approximately 4°C-24°C in winter, with rainfall concentrated largely during the monsoon months.
The best time to explore Nagaland is October to May, when the weather is generally more comfortable for travelling through its hills, villages and forested landscapes. October and November bring fresh greenery after the monsoon, while the winter months offer cooler, clearer conditions for cultural experiences, village trails and scenic drives. Spring also brings flowering orchids and rhododendrons to parts of the state.
