Maharashtra has a diverse tropical climate, shaped by its extensive coastline, inland plains and the Western Ghats. Summer from March to May is generally hot, with temperatures often reaching 35°C-40°C in the plains and interior regions. The Southwest Monsoon arrives from June to September, bringing heavy rainfall to the Konkan coast and Western Ghats, while the interior receives comparatively less precipitation.

The best time to explore Maharashtra is October to March, when cooler and drier conditions are ideal for heritage sites, wildlife, cities, vineyards and coastal journeys. The Western Ghats are particularly lush after the monsoon, making October and November rewarding for nature-focused travel. Winter also offers comfortable conditions for exploring Mumbai, historic caves, hill stations and the state’s many cultural attractions.
